New Years

It's crazy to me how long it's been since I posted anything meaningful in this blog. Since it's the last of the year I figured I should update my readers (haha) or at least document this year for posterity.

So, a few highlights.

2007 was full of changes for me and I think that even though some of them were challenging I don't think any of them were bad.

In January of 2007 I started back to school. It's been a fun. I've gotten surprisingly good grades, changed my major a few times and finished my AA degree! Woot. I'm still going to school Haven't had a break yet. Not all of my grades have been as wonderful as that first quarter but I've gotten nothing less than a B-, even in chemistry which has proven to be my nemesis. I'm looking forward to moving on and AWAY from the Tri-Cities and CBC. In 2008 I will be applying at UW, WSU and Western Oregon University. That last one may seem like an oddball choice but there's a reason for it that we will discuss later. My hope is that one of these fine schools will accept me into their Biology program where I can get my bachelors before moving on to ANOTHER school and becoming a Naturopathic Physician. This is my most current career choice. Possibly even my last.

I quit my job in March and haven't looked back. Hopefully the next time I have a job it will be something related to what I really want to do instead of taking orders at BK. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

In June I finally got divorced. On my 30th Birthday. While Shawn and I have been divorced in our heads for quite some time it is nice to finally have it all legal and tidy. We were married for 9 years, 6 months, and 13 days. I have no regrets as far as Shawn is concerned. We have two children who we both adore and I think Shawn and I will be friends for life. I spent the entirety of my 20's with Shawn and I'm definitely ready to move on to something else. I spent a while after our separation going a little crazy and convinced that I would NEVER fall into another relationship. Recently things have changed and I feel ready to consider a relationship and having someone in my life. I've cautiously started a relationship with a lovely woman I met some time ago online. I'm taking things as slowly as humanly possible. I think there is potential there, but I don't want to rush, or jinx it. She lives in Salem Oregon which is why I'm considering the move down there. In any case that's still 6 months or so away because I'm under a lease. Sometimes this relationship with Sara feels to good to be true, which is why I'm stepping cautiously.

I moved in 2007. Into subsidized housing. It's a move I wish I had made a long time ago because it's been very helpful. It also rekindled my friendship with Kat after many years of hurt. While I really don't see that friendship as something that will last over time or if I move away, it's been nice to spend time with her again and have the closure we both needed.

The kids went to Ohio for the summer to be with Shawn and Amy and for the wedding that never happened. It all ended badly and I said I will NEVER submit my children to that kind of shit again. I've held to that. I don't even chance speculating on what will happen next between those two or what Shawn's next move will be. I keep having to remind myself that he is no longer my concern and even his relationship with his children is his alone, to screw up or nurture as he sees fit.

So 2008 should be full of big changes too. Come summer I will have my first quarter off of school in over a year. I'm not sure what will happen then either a BIG move north or south or planning one more year here in the Tri-Cities and trying to get some kind of internship in the area.

My New Year's Resolution two years ago was to be stronger. That has held me through to this year. Now I think it's time for change. I've been strong and now it's time to be open to changes, open to ideas, open to love and happiness. So my resolution this year is to be more open to all of the wonderful things that life has to offer me.

Hope anyone reading this has a great year too!
